Photovoltaic cells convert light into electricity... They are in essense a type of diode that is the exact opposite of an LED (light emitting diode) which converts electricity into light.
light contains photon from lightwaves etc
the cells convert those photon energy in the way that I stil have not studied.
I heard they use somekind of selenium based cell
those selenium cell reacted to those lights that created small amount electricity (realising some electron ) maybe like photosyntesis proceess of green plants
