Longer last is the solar panel. AA and AAA batteries are cheaper than a solar panel. You need about 6 watts of energy. A one square meter solar cell will give you 1000*0.15=150 watts per hour when the sun is up. If you need the power after sun set then you have to store the energy in a lead acid battery; which in turn will increase the cost. Even if you use a smaller panel this also will be relatively costly. I suggest using the dry batteries.
