OK. When a lunar eclipse happens the earth blocks the moon from sunlight. When a solar eclipse happens the moon blocks the earth from sunlight
The moon revolves once around the earth every 27 days.

so when the moon is perfectly between the sun and the earth, that makes a solar eclipse.

when the moon is behind the earth hiding from the sun, that makes a lunar eclipse.
