What is the solar wind and how does it interact with the Earth's surface?

Question:
what is the solar wind and how does it interact with the Earth's surface?
here you go.
Ionized particles blown away from the sun by solar flares. They do not interact with the Earth's surface because they are deflected by the earths magnetic field except at the points. As these ionized particles hit the earth's atmospheric gases they cause the gases to glow. (See northern lights)
bursts of charged particles ejected by sun, interplanetary coronal mass ejections causes disturbance in the earths magnetosphere, can knock out entire power grids, and is responsible for the northern and southern lights
I was told the solar wind particles tend to interact with O2 and forms O3(ozone).
