Solar power/energy question?

Question:
i just have a few questions about solar power...
1. does it give off polution or cause pollution in any way shape or form?
2. How much does an average solar power panel cost?
3. How much for the monthly bill?
and any other useful info u have would be very nice
thanx!!!

Answer:
No solar cells do not give off pollution but on the down side allot of pollution is made when they produce them because it takes allot of heat to produce . They are made of two types of silicon which is sand type a and type b and must be very pure .

The cost depends on the size to run an average home it would cost you around 20 thousand or so for a good system It would take you around 10 to 15 years to pay for itself. NOT A VERY GOOD TRADE OFF IS IT .
excellent question! i would recommended that you contact one of the local utilitiy companies like EDISON! AND ASK FOR THIS INFORMATION! i am sure they would be glad to help! that is only way i can answer you!
THe only polution would be in its manufactur
It depends on the size and type you got
THere wouldn't be a bill unless your were financing the pannels or the batteris or controlls.
THe best way to learn is just doing a search and finding web sites. Book from the library is another idea. You have to buy a lot of controlls depending on if your storing 100% of the power you use or just some. The more you know or can do the cheaper this part becomes. There is a newsgroup for solar power, probably more than one
When I was looking into it it seemed I would need several thousand dollars for a complete solar system for my very modest wants. The absolute cheapest would be a home built an parts scrounged windmill but this requires a lot of skil or patience.
Another thing is do research on batterys and maintaing them. You'd be using the deep cycle like in golf carts and there is a lot to know to get the most life out of them.
1. Yes, there is the production aspect of the making the solar. A factory has to make the solar panel in the first place which takes electricity, deliver it to your door which takes gas, etc.
2. This is a totally open ended question. Solar panels can be used for heating, electricity, etc. It depends on the type and number of panels. For example a 75 Watt 12 v Panel silicon solar electrical panel which is roughly 3 x 1 feet might cost you a $450 USD. Next you have to consider the application (ie. what are going to use it for and how are you tying into your existing applications). You need something to store or use the electricity as well.
3. Your last question doesn't make sense. Are you asking how much you would save on your month billing? Again it depends on how much average sunshine you are getting. The solar panel ratings are typically peek power ratings. If you are only getting enough to power 1/2 the cell you are only getting 1/2 the benefit. You would take the average power and times it by the cost of electricity in your community.

Hope that helps
1) zero polution. All a solar panel does is convert sunlight into electricity.
2) How much a system will cost depends on how much power you want it to be able to generate. Currently, it runs about $4 per watt capacity. So a 2000 watt system would run around $8000. That's steep for a lot of people--but usually its financed as a home improvement--and the reduction in utility bills ofsetts the payments. Usually it will pay for itself in2-5 years. After that, you're saving money.
3) There is no monthly bill--the power is generated by the sistem, which you own, not by the power company. The only bills would be for whatever power you still used (at night, for instance). The only expense is for maintainance--but that's minimal.
You are talking about active solar, but you might want to research passive solar. Some existing houses can be modified or retrofitted fairly inexpensively to take advantage of passive solar heat.
Check out trombe walls, sun rooms, solar hot water heaters, etc. also check out these little tiny houses on the site below! People really do tend to live in spaces that are larger (and more expensive to heat) than they need.
