Why couldn't I take the picture of the solar eclipse on a digital camera? (the sun seems to be full in photos)

Question:

Answer:
Your photos are over-exposed. Just like the reason why you shouldn't look at the sun with the naked eye, pointing the sun at any electronic optical equipment won't work properly. You should have used a strong filter to stop the glare.
I can only assume that you live in the path of the recent eclipse. Depending on what lense you have on your camera, you may have damaged it. You should have used a special filter over the lens.
digital cameras and camcorders are not recommended esp. for nighttime use b/c we haven't advanced in that area yet . you have to search for professional cameras (not digital btw) that are capable for taking such types of pics
