How about these garden solar lights? I have heard that they are not all that great. A ny opinions on this?
Question:
Answer:
We have them. They offer very little light which is good and bad. They are not bright enough to entertain at night but they gently highlight the landscape.
I actually have them on my sidewalk leading to the pool. They are ok for looks, but dont really put off enough light to be of any real use.
I don't care for them. I've seen them in other yards and I don't think they give off enough light (sort of a small blue pinprick of light), especially when compared to traditional low-voltage Malibu lighting systems.
mine got stolen. No wires see, they are easy to just take away. They weren't much good anyway
They're great in the fact that you don't have to run electricity - but they do suck when it comes to lighting. Not only don't they get very bright, but they don't last very long either.
Its alot nicer to simply flip a switch when you want them on full brightness, and flip it back for total darkness.
I just bought some a couple of weeks ago. The box said they would stay lit for 10 hrs when fully charged. I have mine in full sunlight and they still only light for about 4 hrs. They don't give off much light at all. I just got them cuz the corner I live on is dark and I wanted the house to be noticeable. That was kind of a waste of $30.
I had them too. They looked gorgeous at night, but only the ones that got the recommended 6 or so hours of full sun. They eroded because of the reticulation water spraying on them and we threw them out. Some friends of mine had their's stolen, so they are probably best in a backyard.
They put out very little light (like mood lighting when you go out to eat in a nice place). They are more for ambience than utility.
They also do not live long -just a year or so. Remember, they are outside and exposed to the elements all day, every day. After several months, they are ugly during the day time.
