How bad will the solar storms of 2008 be?

this is an 11 year cycle of our sun. it will start revving up around 2008 and should peak around 2012. we have had them in the past say about 22 years ago. If it dose happen the thing we need IS solar panels. because the transformers on the planet will be taken out by power surges of the sun and we will be without power for as much as 10 years while they rebuild them. (we really need alternative energy then) but i really don't think it is something we really need to worry about.
There is no way to be 100% sure, but I'm not going to buy any solar panels anytime soon!

Well, it's all based on scientific data so you can't really tell but if it is as bad as they say it could be you could see Airline troubles, and other technologies that depend on satellites. The millitary will probably have some issues.
