I need to build a really awesome solar oven to win a competition. I want to build it out of wood or metal, not cardboard. Needs to look really good. Any hints??
Answer:
Make a wooden box that has twice as much room as the pot you will be using. Pack it with dry straw. Put your food in the pot and use two or three magnifying glasses to point the suns rays into the liquid in the pot. It will heat up. Place the pot in the box on top of the straw and surround it with some more. Put a lid on it and it will continue to cook for the next hour or more..
(Not really an 'oven' - more a slow cooker. The straw was a common usage during the war in UK).
