How can i compare and contrast solar and lunar eclipes? And relate them to the faces of the moon?
Question:
Answer:
Your question doesn't make very much sense. Do you mean how can a solar or lunar eclipse resemble the phases of the Moon?
Well a solar eclipse happens when the moon passes between the sun and earth and blocks our view of the sun from earth. This can be total or annular (you only see a ring of the sun). Lunar eclipes happen when the moon passes directly behind earth in such a way that the sunlight is blocked from it. It will often glow red or similar shades do to light that is scattered from Earth's atmoshpere onto the moon. Now a solar eclipse can ONLY happen when the moon is a new moon. The reason we don't have an eclipse every new moon is because the moon's orbit is tilted 5 degrees. Lunar eclipses happen during full moons. It has to do with the position of the moon relative to the sun.
