Which solar system are you talking about? Our one, or one of the other ones we've discovered?
this keeps changing as the 'they' keep changing the definition of what a planet is. there current decision is 8 - Pluto is no longer classified as a plannet.
A planet is any body in orbit around the Sun that a) has enough mass to form itself into a spherical shape and b) has cleared its immediate neighborhood of all smaller objects. There eight known planets are: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.
8, Because even though, All through school we were taught that we actually had 9 planets in our solar system. And here when we are out of school and don't have to take tests anymore, they go and change history. Pluto is now not considered a Planet.
Bye Bye Pluto, At least we still have Pluto the dog, everyone likes Pluto the dog
Here's your sign !
8 as we know from Mercury to Neptune. Pluto's no more a planet that's WHY...
Newly discovered planets included Ceres (previously considered asteroid), UB 313 and Sedna.

Quaoar is not a planet in our solar system. It was discovered some 30000 light years away from earth. So that makes it 11.
