Will you go blind if you look at a solar eclipse?

You are never supposed to stare directly at an eclipse. It can hurt your eyes. Most site I have seen it can make you go blind. Other sites said differently.
No. But staring at the sun isn't good for your eyes, even if it's eclipsed.
Its not the solar eclipse, but the part after it that fucks you up.
