When and where is the next Solar eclipse going to happen?
Question:
Answer:
The eclipse year is about 346.6 days; that is how often eclipses repeat. We have just had one or two rinky-dink solar eclipses and a really spectacular lunar eclipse on March 3. Add 346.6/2 days = 173.3 days. You get August 20 or so. So the next eclipse should occur on August 20. Let me look it up. There is a partial eclipse on 2007 September 11, and there is another good lunar eclipse on August 27 or so. There is one on March 19, a partial visible only in remote northern lands.
The next really spectacular eclipse will probably be the Chinese eclipse of 2009 July 22 or so. It is the longest of the 21st Century, but the eclipse of 1991 July 11 was longer - I saw that one in Mexico.
March 19, 2007
it depends on where you live
