How do I build a wind turbine with free instructions on how to safely use it?

Question:
I would like to reduce my use of electricity by trying to go to solar power but I have limited resources (cash and knowledge). I would need free plans and instructions on how to build and simple procedures for maintenance, care, and use of the system. I also need any safety precautions I would need to follow to implement this system. I have no mechanical background so I need layman's terms so I can understand what I am going to be doing.

Answer:
Just visit some salvage yards and buy a used car alternator (any brand or model will work) and then connect it to a salvaged prop from an airplane. One thats been slightly damaged that might not be efficient or safe enough for flight would be perfect. Then couple it directly or with a pulley to the alternator, and use that system to charge a 12 volt car battery. Then connect the battery to an "inverter" you buy at Wal Mart etc. and used the invertor to to run your computer or TV or whatever with free wind energy!
Do you want wind or solar power? There's no way to get cheap solar power because the panels are real expensive to begin with. Windmills are kinda unpredictable in their reliability. And you'd need to get a converter that can switch back and forth from the windmill to the public electricity when there's no wind. It's a big deal, and you don't really save that much money anyway.
At first i started looking in google but fount everyone was making complicated ones, so i made my own.
1. get som 2in x 2in and cut it to about a meter and a half.

2. Now get another bit for a head [30in] (it swivels to face the wind)

3. get a 15mm bolt which is 15cm long

4. in the longes bit drill a 20mm hole which is 10 cm long

5. cut a piece of (20mm) copper pipe and find a coin which just fits inside (smaller than 5p).

6. slide the copper pipe and coin down the hole.

7. now get 10mm plyboard (6in x 6in)

8. get an old motor from a dishwasher or washing machine (go to the local dump or ebay for one)

9. strap this to the 6x6 ply (the spindle must stick over the end)

10. cut anothe piece of ply (3in x 3in)

11. put a hole in this that is the same size as your spindle

12. drill a hole in your spindle (must go right through)

13. dill a hole through the pine LENGTHWAYS

14. put a screw through the hole in the ply and spindle

15. now do the same as 12 but turn it round 90 degrees first and dont drill right through only drill about half way

16. now do the same as 13 but turn it 90 degrees first

17. put a screw through the 2 new holes

18 get 2 pieces of 1in x 1in (50cm long) and cut down them 2in LENGTHWAYS from coner to corner.

19. screw both of these on to the piece of 3x3 ply [they should poke off in opposite directions.

20. cut 2 pieces of 30in x 5in hardboard

21. attatch them to th 1in x 1in pieces they should be at 90 degrees to each other

22. put the bolt throughthe center of the pice of ply holding the motor [hold the bolt against the ply by screwing a pice of 2in square hardboard to the ply, this will cover the bolt head]

23. now put the bolt through the piece of 30in 2x2

24. also screw the piece of ply holding the motor to the piece of 30in 2x2, this will stop it moving about.

25. now to make the tail, get a piece of 15x15in ply or hardboard

26. attatch this to the head opposite end to your motor

27. slot the bolt into the copper pipe [slotted in the 2in x 2in]

YOU NOW HAVE A WIND GENERATOR
ps. im afraid mine is only to power a waterfeature in an avery so i dont know so much about the electrics.

SAFTEY
to get the most out of this generator i would recomend putting it on the highest side side of your house.

BUT

1. make sure its not near any widows
2. attach it well, you dont wan't it to fall off your house and kill someone
3. just use your common sence

I hope this has been of some help.
