Which is the hottest planet in our solar system?

Question:
According to a trivia question on the bottle cap of Carlton Draft beer, it is Venus....I would have said Mercury, what is your opinion?

Answer:
Venus is the hottest planet, with the maximum surface temp. of 900 degrees F.
reason
the component of the atmosphere is carbon dioxide, which traps heat in a greenhouse effect far stronger that that of the earth.

mercury has a max temp of 800 in sunlight and -270 on the dark side
reason. sudden changes of temp is caused by the planets atmosphere is almost nonexistent. it consists only of minute amounts of helium and hydrogen
surely it has to be mercury, its closer to the sun.
it is Venus some people think its mercury but its not
I also would say Mercury, but it might have something to do with the size of the planets?
Venus. All of Venus is ridiculously hot because of the thick atmosphere. Mercury has a hot side and a cold side, depending upon which side faces the sun, with no atmosphere.
By the way, where to hell do you get Carlton draft beer?
venus, partly because of so much c02 in the atmosphere, which is causing all the hype about global warning, partly because of its size. something with more mass will retain more heat than a small thing.
the hottest planet is te sun itself - it's a rock just like all the other planets...
venus is
For the last time, the sun is a star, not a planet! Planets revolve about stars.

But thanks for the info...I always assumed Mercury was the hottest!
Venus because of the greenhouse effect
It doesn't matter the nearness and the distance to the sun, it's venus. All the atmosphere of Mercury have escaped to the sun. So, when Mercury is at day, it is extremely hot and while it's night, it's extremely cold. But at VEnus, there is a real thick atmosphere that traps almost all heat (like a greenhouse effect). So, it is always hot on Venus, added with lots of volcanoes.
MERCURY AS ITS CLOSER TO SUN. BUT I HEARD ON A NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC CHANNEL THAT THERE ARE MANY SOLAR SYSTEMS AND MANY SUNS WHICH ARE MORE BRIGHTHER AND HOTTER THAN THE SUN. BUT IN OUR SOLAR SYSTEM;MERCURY IS CONSIDERED TO BE THE HOTTEST PLANET.
Stop answering Mercury because VENUS is the hottest planet.

Simply because of the Greenhouse effect, once the heat enters inside the thick Carbon Dioxide atmosphere of Venus, it is doomed to be trapped inside for almost forever.
Sun is the hottest.
It is extremely HOT. Human are unable to get into the sun to discover it because of its heat. Human may get burn, boil and disappear just in a while.
Core temperature can reach 22.5 million degrees! Its surface temperature reach more than 5500C.
Astronaut is unable to fly near to the sun but astronaut is able to land on the other planet because of the heat of the sun.
venus
venus is the hottest because it has a great abundance of greenhouse gases which trap in heat and prevent it from escaping.
First you must define "HOT" If hot means cool and hip
then EARTH is a hot place to live
