Any ideas with helping me make a solar oven due in two weeks?
Question:
materials. Anyone have ideas? The design is most important and we will try to bake a cookie with it...
Answer:
Cardboard box...aluminum foil all around it.
Bury it in a sunny area.
The heated sand/rocks will do the cooking.

the best would be to find a fresnel lens. (most cost money, but you can find them inside old projectors.)
They will heat things up nicely...
As a science teacher, I've had my students make these before. If you go with the tin foil/box method - be sure the shiny side of the tin foil is facing the food and is as smooth as possible (very important). Also, shape of your box is important - you want as much surface area as possible. Ideally, you should find a few box sizes (shoe box, pizza box, small packing box), calculate the each boxes surface area then compare that to the boxes volume. The higher your surface area is to your volume, the more heat energy your solar oven will produce. Good luck and enjoy!
