Can I install solar panels on roof of the flat above of which I own the freehold?


Question:
Does the roof belong to him or is it just the inside? It is a detached house split into 2 flats. I live in the one below but own the freehold of the whole building.

Answer:
A lot depends on the lease you gave the tenant in the top flat but in any case you would have to apply for Planning Permission from the Local Authority. Look at the deeds to the property, the lease to the tenant and the local Planning Laws
I think so as you have the freehold and that include the exterior but you may have to check with the flat owner as a goodwill act
why not if go to him with a smile and ask his permission too. This gonna pass easy.
