Well somewhat, but there are plenty of limitations.
1. Solar energy is short lived. Doesn't last very long.
2. Solar powered things are 3 to 4 times as expensive as the normal light.
3. With time the energy given off of something decreases, as you will notice if you have glow in the dark items.

I do support the idea. We should use solar energy for outside lights; even if they only last for 3-5 hours.
