What is a cell pgment that protects you from solar radiation?
Question:
Answer:
Melanin
Nothing to figure out. It just IS melanin.
That would be melanin (just as an aside- melanin is what gives freckles their dark coloration)
Melanin is naturally occuring in the skin at different levels. People with fair skin have far less melanin than those with tanner skin. The level of melanin can change as a response to exposure to sunlight (this is why you get tan). This, however, can impact levels of vitamin D in the body. Very dark skin needs more exposure to sunlight to produce the same levels of Vitamin D than a person with fair skin does.
