How can a sacle model of solar be made?
Question:
Answer:
I assume you are asking how to make a scale model of the solar system. A significant problem is obviously that the distances to the outer planets are much larger than the size of any of the planets or even the sun. One way to deal with this would be to use a logarithmic scale. In this way the planets can be made large enough to see and still be close enough to each other to see the relationship of the planets.
In reality, the planets are a few to 10's of thousands of miles across, while their orbits are 10's to thousands of MILLIONS of miles across. So, no model could successfully show a real size comparison, unless you have a fifty acre plot to set it up.
But you could guess that by the fact that none of the planets present a visible disk to the naked eye, so you know they are tiny compared to their spread.
You can make a model that shows the orbits to scale, or a model that shows their sizes to scale. But not one that does both.
Use the resource that the good lord gave you sweety, styrofoam balls of the appropriate size some sticks, and a little wire, all of which can be purchased at your local art store or Wally World, for a couple of dollars. Oh yeah don't forget to add a little imagination
