Has anyone ever wondered why the solar system is like an atom (nucleus (sun), space, electrons (planets)?

Question:
The largest thing that we know of (space and all the solar systems) is similar in make up to that of cells and atoms. Is that a coincidence? Perhaps we are just a spot on an electron in an atom of something larger than we can comprehend? Am I the only on that has ever considered this?

Answer:
RUTHERFORD CONSIDERD THAT ATOM IS LIKE SOLAR SYSTEM WHERE NUCLEUS IS LIKE SUN
coincidence : it is the simplest way a body can orbit. It would be very difficult for a planet to orbit in a square pattern
smokin the good stuff?

these structures are the basic structures of everything. yr not the first to consider it, since it has been taught in school for years.
This similarity was only present in earlier models of the atom. Scientists have long since discovered that electrons have much more complex "orbits" around the nucleus than was previously thought. Unfortunately, the old "solar system" model is still being taught in schools, simple because the more advanced concept of uncertainty in such matters is considered too complicated.
Well unfortunately it isn't that simple.

The solar system model of the atom is grossly simplified. The electrons going aroudn the necleus is really more of a cloud where you will likely find an electron than an neat orbit like the solar system.

Sorry to burst your bubble on the subject but the solar system and the quatum world have very little in common (at least on the surface)
Its not even remotely like an atom.

An atom has a dense, charged nucleus surrounded by a fizzing cloud of probabilistic electrons popping in and out of existence about the place. No energy is radiated from the nucleus.

Learn some quantum mechanics.
Yes, I have wondered about that for years. But the only similarity between atoms and solar systems though, is the fact that they both involve orbits. It is plausible to think that this system of small objects orbiting larger objects goes on endlessly inwards and endlessly outwards. That fits my concept that the universe has no beginning and no end. The concept that everything must have a beginning and an end is purely a human one based on observing the things we have around us.
Think "round"..why is every shape we know of designed in that way ? From the smallest to the biggest thing on earth. Makes you wonder what "spot" we are in the big cosmic question !
It is just to balancing the cohesive forces between the Planets
Because gravity and magnetism works very similar. In fact the equation to calculate magnetic force between two objects, and gravitational force between two objects is identical. The only difference is the constant.
i thought about the same concept when i was a child
