I am planning to pursue a Master degree in Mathematics with NUS on part-time basis. Any advice for me ?

Question:
While I am excited and looking forward to it , I am equally unsure about making the decision due to some nagging fear. Firstly, will I have the discipline necessary for part-time courses ? Next, will I get confused with the modular credit system ? After all, it has been more than fifteen years since I got my Bachelor’s degree from NUS. We did not have such system then. And, for the financial aspect, is this a worthwhile investment ? By the way, this Master course has recently allowed the students a choice to specialize in Mathematical Finance, which is the main reason why I am still attracted towards the course despite the nagging fear and worries.

A friend said I am over cautious. Do I really worry too much ?

What is your opinion ? Whether you have such experience or not, I look forward to reading your views. On top of that, if you ever had or are having the similar concerns, please share with me how you had or have overcome them.

Answer:
Taking part time course after more than 15 years of study is never easy task for anybody. You need to have a very strong mentality to success in the course especially you have not study for such a long time. Since you are taking part time course, you must be able to carry out time management to balance out your working life, your family life and your study too. The most important thing you should have is your family support so that you can have better concentration. Yes, it is better to start thinking about this sort of things rather than give up the course when you are in the midst of the course. I won't say you are worrying too much but what you think is correct coz if you give up in the midst of the course, you are actually wasting your own time and effort. It is not an easy process you really need a lot of endurance in order to succeed.
