MY FELLOW BLACK PEOPLE-why do we invest so much into material things (read on)?
Question:
Answer:
You do have a good point and it's not only in the south. I live in the Midwest and I see that a lot too - that our fellow brothers and sisters are consumed by the outside appearance and not what's on the inside. When we start looking on the inside of ourselves and others and leaning more on Jesus' words than 50 cent then we will start to care more about ourselves as a people. Let's all get into our word and get to know our God as our personal Savior then maybe we will not be consumed by the material things of the world but we will be anticipating our heavenly home and the riches and glory there.
U have a good point
yo girl u speak da truth
well, maybe some of the black folk on television, but not me. nope. my mother taught me that items do not make you happy... and that the lord makes you happy, for the lord is love and happiness. it's just what some people consider cool and normal.
these days every1 is focused on the material things. such as the best shoes[expensive though] a nice car, the best of the best basically. but one more thing i gotta add.its not just da black folk. its all of the celebs too. Look at Paris or Linsay Lohan flauntin their $3,000 purses. so many more other pplz other than blacks that are very very very materialized
? Its a style.U black then you should know y we got all the jewerly.Girls, and respect.
Some black folks have bought into the idea of capitalism has the redeemer. We have a sickness left over from slavery. We were brainwashed to believe that the "white way was the right way". Not all of us have this sickness. Whites want more than they deserve and many have no respect for true humanity.
I believe that as long as a person is happy and treats people with respect, they can have whatever they want. We waste too much time being mad about what people like and not on whether or not people are not good. I love nice things and I am good to myself and others. That should be enough. It is no ones business who has what and why they have it. Bling is not the blame for Black issues. Our problems were here long before that. Our issues will never be solved if we continue to belittle our own people. We need to be good to each other. It goes a long way.
It's not those entertainers' downfall. They are making a lot of money because of those values. They also endorse products or make products that create more materialism.
My suggestion is not to listen to the music. I have switched to jazz, blues, and foreign music rather than be influenced by that horrible dribble.
It really is sad about what has happened to the black music scene. It's like we went backwards in time.
Too many black people talking and not enough doing.
