How can I find funding or investors for my website?

Question:
I have been running a free homework help site for a while now. It is very popular and I would like for it to grow. Because it is altruistic in nature I don't want to charge people but some help would be nice. Where could I look for funding?

Answer:
Your best bet is for funding (not investors). Funding will primarily come in the form of advertising or partnering. If the traffic is as good as you say, then you should have no problems getting advertisers. One form of advertising is ad-sense words. You'll get a small check by incorporating them into your site. It cheapens the look of your site, but it does give you some money to defer the cost of your site/server. The second way is to get banner ads and partners. These are firms that would want to concentrate on your customer base - student who are looking for homework help. I am going to guess that your traffic is not monumental, so you are going to have a hard-sell to guys like learning centers and supplementary education. It doesn't mean you should try, but know that you're going to eat a lot of rejections before you get a partner.

Investing is going to be extremely difficult. Angel investing for a non-profit site is going to be very difficult to find - largely because angel investing is for charitable causes (I know, I know, you're doing this for free - but I'm talking about charity that fights the 7 Horsemen type) or is actually commercial.
