I want to invest some what 2000 USD in Gold.?
Question:
Please suggest me which type of gold should i purchased, which caret etc.
and from where it will be cheaper, I am living in SanMateo, SanFrancisco, CA
Answer:
You want the pure stuff, .9999 fine gold, ie, 24kt. You are going to pay a premium over spot, so get the bars as the premium for them is less than the premium on coins.
Also, stick with smaller sized bars, preferably 1 oz. or smaller, but no bigger than a 5 oz. bar. Why? Because it's easier to sell the smaller bars. Also, say you had 10 - oz. bars and 1 - 10 oz. bar and say gold is $680/oz. If you needed say $2,000, it's easier to sell 3 - 1 oz. bars instead of selling the single 10 oz. bar and having to repurchase 7 - 1 oz. bars.
I would recommend www.kitco.com. They sell in various sizes and they can either ship the bars to you or will hold them for you.
You want the actual gold? Or you want to invest in gold?
If you want to invest, try GLD or TGLDX
The current spot price of gold is $669.60 per ounce of 24 caret (pure) gold. The price of 24 kt gold is almost exactly the same anywhere you can purchase it, as that is the world spot price. If you are buying gold coins, there is a premium attached to the weight cost. If you are buying jewelry, there is also a premium for the workmanship and it is often not 24 kt.
I can only advice you this. Don't buy gold now, the price is dropping and will continue to drop for some time to come. Of course, intraday trading, it will have its ups and down but the primary trend is down.
