How long does it typically take to get an MBA part-time?

Question:
I am almost done with my MBA, but I had to start from scratch and take 6 undergrad prerequisite classes (7th was waived), because I have a technical undergraduate degree. The MBA program itself is 13 classes, 3 credits each. Start to finish, it will have taken me 3 1/2 years. Is this typical for a part or half-time student (I work full time as well).

Answer:
It can be extremely variable, depending upon how many classes you take per semester, whether you take summer courses, etc., but on the whole, I would say that your experience is pretty normal. Realize that the good full-time programs take 2 years, and expect that it will take you twice as long if you take half the courses per term.
I'm working toward a different type of Master's degree and balancing work and school is tough. I take 2 classes per semester each fall, spring and summer. The whole program is taking me 2 1/2 years. Based on my experience(I'm half way done) If you don't do summers, it probably will take you 3 1/2 years.
Both the UCLA and USC part time MBA programs (designed for working professionals) are 3 year courses. So yeah, that's pretty typical. (Some 2nd and 3rd tier schools will do it in 2 years though).
