Should I go for my MBA?

Question:
I am 28 years old. I have a good job as an account manager for a commercial lending company. I currently make around $45K. I have a psychology degree and I do enjoy working with people. I have come to a point though where I feel like in order to be very successful I need to take my education to the next level. I want to become more familiar with the ins and outs of business. I am not very familiar with economics, stocks, accounting etc. I have a solid skill set in my job but sometimes I feel like all I am doing is collections. I work with several different accounts that are being Liquidated or Repossessed and my job is to streamline to process to minimize losses. I work with lawyers, manufacturers, and owners. I'm not sure exactly what I want to do in the future but I plan to get into our credit division down the road where I will be reviewing financials to establish dealer strength. I see myself in a leadership role in some capacity. I have thought of consulting only becasue of psych.

Answer:
If you have the financial means, then by all means, go and get your MBA. I work in the labor field and can tell you without hesitation that employers more and more are seeking candidates with a minimum of a Master's degree. You can't go wrong. Good luck! Your education is something that no one can ever take from you; you will always have it, even if it doesn't lead to the perfect job. It will make you a better person either way.
Does it goes well with your background ? If you were to switch job to another company, can you take up a better/higher position ?
yes! if you can afford it, don't mind the loans then do it. An MBA is flexible, which is what a lot of people dont understand. they automatically think if there background isn't business then they shouldn't do it and that's not true. a lot more jobs are seeking people with a master's. so i would say go for it. i am 25 y.o. with a $40K salary and i am definitely thinking about going back for the spring term 2007 so i can become more competitive in this job market.
I am a 26 yr old accountant (in corporate compliance) with a BBA in accounting and an MBA in management and I make about $65K. I would say go for it. Even if it doesn't get you promoted in your company it will open doors at other companies and would be the next logical step in your development. I received my MBA through a part time evening program while working at my old job. They really didn't reward anyone for having an MBA so I took a lateral position at another company working better hours and for a 15% pay increase.

Try to make sure that you choose a concentration that will help you in your current or future jobs. It sounds like you currently work in a finance related field and you plan to move into a slightly different finance related area. Since your undergrad degree is not in a business field you will probably have to take some prerequites in accounting, finance, marketing etc. Some one without a business degree going into the program I did would have to take about 17 courses (3 credits each) while someone with a business degree would need only 10. But look around on your own. Talk to people in each program to see what will work best for you. Also, many comapnies will pay a portion of MBA costs as a benefit under employee development so check your company.
I pretty much agree with everyone, just do your research. There are alot of business schools out there, plenty of diversified programs. Make sure this is what you really want, because it takes alot of focus, time and effort. I'm actually thinking about the same...
Yes you should.
