What degree has better options a PHD/JD degree or a MBA/JD degree?
Question:
Answer:
It depends.
MBA/JD is helpful in the business related areas of law.
PhD/JD is helpful in the more technical areas of law, like Intellectual Property, engineering, maybe as an expert witness, etc.
PhD for teaching; MBA for Business.
Well, depends what type of law you plan to practice. What would you earn your PHD in? Or, do you not plan to be a practicing attorney? If you only want your JD but don't plan to get your license and practice, then what type of job are you interested in?
Either would make you quite marketable. What's your main interest? Go with that. Follow your heart, and the money will follow.
for business, MBA. Everything else (space tech, teaching, you name it), Ph.D.
Just looking for number of employment opportunities? The MBA route will probably have more opportunity.
If you plan on specializing, outside of normal business areas (contracts, financial planning, taxes, HR) then I would look to the PHD.
Environmental law and international law would benefit from a PHD in the right areas.
If you have an engineering background then getting a PhD in engineering and a JD would go a long way in Intellectual Property and patent litigation.
