Should I get both an MBA and a Law degree?
Question:
Answer:
Both are interesting if you could manage your time.
From what you are going to study, you tend to work in business area.. so (business) law is important for owning or being in a business.
However, it also depends on your affordability. If the law course costs too much and it does not emphasise much on business law, I think you can study it after you got your MBA.
In some MBA programme, there is a business law course for you to choose as a compulsory or elective. See what you have in your MBA programme first.
And.. studying law, you need time to memories things. Make sure you have enough time to do both. Otherwise, do one at a time.
it totally depends on what you want to do. if you want to practice commercial law, then yeah I think both could be helpful.
Having a Law degree by itself would only get you a job as a paralegalist or whatever it is called. You would need to take the bar exam. An MBA alone wouldn't let you practice law.
A Law degree would be more fulfilling.
Here is another option:
An MBA with a focus(major) in Business Law - Most schools offer concentrations within the MBA. It will say you time and money.
Education is addicting to me; I love to learn! So I say go for it! I would not call it a waste of money. Think of the money you can save on attorney fees alone. I am with ya on the MBA, working on my bachelors at the moment. Even a paralegal degree would be better than nothing. Good Luck to ya, whatever you choose!
Don't waste your time getting a law degree unless you are going to be a lawyer. Someone told me that before law school, and now I see how true it is - there is NO reason to be in law school otherwise. That being said, if you are going to be a lawyer - I think an MBA would be helpful if you want a good job, but I see tons of people getting those same exact jobs without an MBA an the wasted additional year.
