Concentration with MBA or is it not worth it?

Question:
I'm currently in school to get my MBA. I'm at the point where I need to decide if I want a concentration or not. My undergrad is in Elementary Education but I'm ready to go into the business world instead (majorly burned out by kids). I was looking at a concentration in management or Marketing but I wasn't sure if this is imporatant or not. Is it better to have a concentration? Would I be ok with just a regular MBA degree? I'm lost and could use any advice.

Answer:
If you want to do finance or marketing, I would say to specialize. I have my general MBA and it seems like fiance companies are not really interested in me because I did not specialize. I'm not saying that they won't look at you, but if they have candidates that have specialized they may pick them over you. Looking back now, I wish I would have specialized.

Good Luck!
I was in a very similar situation when I got my MBA. I would say if you have a good idea what line of work you want to end up in and there is a specialty available - definitely worth it. If you're still not sure, a general MBA will open a lot of doors for you.
