What kind of schooling do you need to become a financial advisor?

Question:

Answer:
Most FA has a bachelor degree. You have to pass Series 63 and another security license exam. If you are affiliated with a brokerage firm, you also require to pass the Series 7 exam.

You need to complete a lot of classes dealing with various investment products. You should request an informational interview with a manager at American Express.
You should have at a minimum a finance degree (4-year degree) and you should feel comfortable with everything you learn rather than just memorizing the forumulas.

You should also consider having a 4-year degree in accounting. These days accountants are actually getting the management positions in companies as finance officers because of new laws like the Sarbanes Oxley Act that requires CFO's to sign off on accounting internal controls and the company's financial statements.

If you don't have an accounting degree, no company is going to trust you to sign these, nor should they.
A degree in Business Finance/ Accounting/ Administration Any of the business degrees really
You need to be certified as a financial planner, or financial adviser. I believe it takes some 4 to 6 months to complete.

Those I know in the field do make decent $$
I would think for the very least a first degree but preferably a master's degree in the related area
Seek your junior college counselor and they have the information you need. Accounting you need to take also you have to take other minor classes that have nothing to do with financial advisor.
