Most FA has a bachelor degree. You have to pass Series 63 and another security license exam. If you are affiliated with a brokerage firm, you also require to pass the Series 7 exam.

You should have at a minimum a finance degree (4-year degree) and you should feel comfortable with everything you learn rather than just memorizing the forumulas.
You should also consider having a 4-year degree in accounting. These days accountants are actually getting the management positions in companies as finance officers because of new laws like the Sarbanes Oxley Act that requires CFO's to sign off on accounting internal controls and the company's financial statements.

Seek your junior college counselor and they have the information you need. Accounting you need to take also you have to take other minor classes that have nothing to do with financial advisor.
