The financial aid advisors of universities/colleges, do they have the right to change your information?

Question:
The financial aid advisors of universities/colleges, do they have the right to change your information from your FAFSA application?
If not, what can I do?

Answer:
They have the right to override it with your consent - this is called professional judgement. If you have a case where a financial aid officer has changed information without your consent, immediately report it to the FSA Ombudsman office.

You can contact them at:

U.S. Department of Education

Phone: 1-877-557-2575

Hope this helps!

If they have received financial info from your and /or your parents tax returns that changes some of the calculations... they can do it. They assess everyone the same way, so I'm pretty sure it's as fair for you as for me and the next guy.
