What do I major in if I want to become a financial advisor? Business or accounting?

Question:

Answer:
In addition to what has already been suggested, I think you will need a pretty solid understanding of taxation. Being a CPA, although a pretty arduous process will also add a lot to your credentials.

good luck.
focus more on business, and financial management
Economics, Business, Accounting.
It is probably best to talk to a college counselor.

An Economics major is the best on a University Level.
I don't think it matters because I think what you really need is a bachelor's degree but my cousin is going to be a financial advisor and his major is finance. I guess between accounting and business I would choose to major in business.
do some research, call/e-mail companies that you'd potentially like to work for- you'd be surprised about how much people like to talk about themselves and their work. Most people would be happy to give you advice and what's a better source than the places you'd like to end up!
While accounting would be helpful, if you are an advisor you will be in sales... A Business / Marketing degree would be helpful.
Finance or accounting. If you want to become a CFP, certified financial planner, you should become a CPA, certified pubic accountant. Many states require this for the CFP.

However, there are many financial advisors that are not CFP's
business
Hi,

This might not be the answer you truly wish to hear but if you really want to be the best financial advisor, consider becoming financially successful in your own right.

There are many financial advisors in the Yellow Pages who are making an average wage. It'd be like taking weight loss advice from someone who's overweight, or addiction advice from a gambler.

By becoming financially successful through a business of some form, you wil stand apart from the competition. People will seek you out for financial advice because you don't just have the theory - you have the truth.

In the 21st century, people are rightly becoming more cautious and sceptical. Customers of financial advisors will be extremely careful about who they take advice from.

I'd prefer to take my advice from a wealthy high school drop out than a broke Professor any day.

I sincerely trust this is helpful.

Warmly,

Slav

Major in communications, I mean the finance stuff needs to be learned , but you could do that when u get your series 7. If you cant talk to people and call people you wont be any good at it!
