What college major should I apply for to become a personal financial advisor?
Question:
Finance.
That was easy...
Personal Finance or Financial Planning. You'll also want to do a web search of "financial advisors - licensure - your state" to see about professional licensure exams and educational credentials.
At Louisiana State University you must major in Business with a concentration in Finance. Hope this helps! Good Luck!
Accounting, to become a CPA; then get a Master's in Taxation. That's one way.
Finance with a Business Minor
A financial planner requires certification. There is a separate class you will have to go through and tests to pass to become one. There is no requirement for a specific degree but you must have a B.S.
You should not choose a major for a specific narrow focus of being a financial advisor/planner. Rather major in what truly interests you and that you are good at. I know a financial planner who majored in music. He's good at both.
Depends on what your school offers, but definately something in business...preferably finance or accounting.
