Where can I find examples of letters written from students to financial aid advisors?

Question:
I need help writing my letter to my financial aid advisor explaining that I have no family, and I need financial aid, but I don't know how to word my letter correctly. I need to see examples to help me put my words together, any suggestions?

Answer:
I work in the Financial Aid Office at Northwestern University. I've seen many of these such letters, and as far as I know there really is no set format. Just state your situation as clearly as you can, citing examples, and be clear about what you want. Also, be very grateful, because often an increased financial aid award means depleting University funds. Simply illustrate, as eloquently and concisely as possible, why you need more aid, and thank them profusely for their help.
