How do i find a independent financial advisor please?

Question:
murky buckets!

Answer:
Try unbiased.co.uk. The site is run by IFA Promotion Ltd and most IFAs subscribe to it.
look in your yellow pages, ask your friends
yellow pages
You could possibly ask here if you want to consult something...... details.
They are on your high streets. They dont come knocking on your door as they are not representatives so you have to go to them. They are not restricted to selling you products/policies belonging to just Abbeylife or Barclays life. They sell you the best policy from any company suited to your needs.
You can look in the yellow pages or on the Financial Services Authority website to check that they are authorised and regulated. Try to find 2 or 3 and ask them how they charge - either a fee or commission basis and make sure you receive a terms of business letter from them which outlines exactly what services they offer and how much they charge.
