Any reliable comparisons of foreclosure websites?
Question:
the claim that "A recent study commissioned by Yahoo! Real Estate proved that ForeclosureNet.net had” … more listings than ForeclosureFreeSearch and Ushud. (http://www.foreclosurenet.net/partner.as...
Has anyone seen this study? Is foreclosurenet.net blowing smoke?
Alternatively, can anyone point me to a reliable review of these sites?
Thanx!

Here is a comparison:

The point here is not the website that has more listings, but the website that has the most accurate foreclosure listings. I personally like http://www.e-foreclosuresearch.com/... . They have pretty accurate foreclosure listings in my area.

Regardless of how many listings each site has, most foreclosure data comes from public records, which contain inaccurate, out of date information, most of the time.
I've used some of those lists and sent out hundreds of mailers only to find out that over half come back as vacant houses. And, since the listings don't give you phone numbers or email addresses of the homeowners, I had to look up phone numbers on other public records websites. But even the phone numbers were mostly wrong, disconnected, or inaccurate.
So out of thousands of listings, there was almost no real return on the investment of time/money I made. The best luck with a list I ever had was picking out certain counties and contacting the local sheriff's department for a list of upcoming sheriff sales, if one was available. Sometimes they schedule the sales out 4-6 months or longer, which provides more than enough time to find a good deal and get it done.
I think most of the sites you're comparing are probably getting their inaccurate data from the same sources. They all just aggregate the date and then sell memberships to it. If you want to use one of those sites, just pick the nicest looking one, and that's a matter of personal preference.
Good luck.
