What is the best way to find out about foreclosures in chi-town?

Question:

Foreclosures are public knowledge, so you need to start at the county sherriff's dept to see where they publish the records. Most places that charge you money and then send you the list are months behind and the information is too old to be useful
hi foreclosures are public information. you can check with a local tax accountant, local recording office, your local daily newspaper classifieds will also list when an auction takes place. stay away from websites that promise free lists. ya right? i tried that myself but after learning and stumbling i realized exactly where to go and what to do. im in ca but i know its the same in chi-town too. best of luck.
