How can I find foreclosures or tax lien property in alabama?
Question:
Answer:
There are several ways to do this. First, check the newspapers in the areas you are looking in. Next you can subscribe to any number of sites that specialize in foreclosures. Be careful with these. Some involve a fee and other hidden charges and don't yield results. You can also check with the county of the area you are looking in. The County Clerk's office or Register of Deeds.
You can also check the various real estate magazines. If you know some one in the real estate business ask them. They usually have an inside track on these listings. Checking with local banks and mortgage companies can help but, they tend to be a little stingy on sharing information.
For tax information try the Receiver of Taxes, County Assessor's Office or Taxation and Revenue offices of the county.
Good Luck
Try the courthouse in the tax department or the local real estate agencies.
Alabama and each state have different rules, so you really want to look at specifically your local county and what particular rules they have. They usually post foreclosure listings online or have it at the clerk of court. Some Alabama sites are doing online auctions. You can find some of those online auctions on this site that's specialized in tax liens:
