Why can't you search and find complete information on homes under foreclosure without paying for a service?

Question:
I've searched and searched the web and cannot find any FREE way to review homes in foreclosure. Is this not possible?

Answer:
Most counties in the nation have some sort of online service where you can search for properties that are in some stage of foreclosure. Some will even publish a list of upcoming sheriff sales. This is where to find the most information about properties, and you target your market by looking only in a few counties and then checking other online records that might be available for the property.

The reason the other ones aren't free is that they're buying information from other public records companies that just pull all the county information together and present it nicely. It's really more for people who want a lot of data without having to search every county and every other source of information.

But if you're just after certain areas, then look up the county websites for those areas. You may even get information before the paid websites get it, since you're going directly to the source.

Good luck.

The government is bound by law to disclose information on foreclosures in your state/province. Check with your local housing authority to get more details.
information is a tradable commodity.
thats why u pay to date one way or other.
visit local county court house make friend with people in the know. the info is public by law.
You are right, it is free.
But, do you have the time to go to the courthouses every day to scour for the recent filings? These companies have a large network of people that can find the information you are looking for. If you are serious about finding a property this way, it is pretty cheap to use. Even if you spend $200 on the service, what percentage is that of the home you are buying? You would pay A LOT more than that for real estate agent to find the property.

Good Luck!
Not on the web.

In Arizona you need to subscribe to the RecordReporter.

Hope this helps.

Most state county offices have website and these sites also have their contact information and the condition of the properties.
