How do I look up an existing property to see if it's in foreclosure?

Question:
I am about to rent a house but he's very laid back and don't require anything other than a down payment and last month's rent. I am interested in buying this house in about a year.
You'll actually have to make a trip down to the courthouse.

See if there is a "lis pendens" that has been filed on the title.that means "a pending lawsuit"..and more often than not, a foreclosure.

Websites that claim to offer that information are usually scams.
