Question:
MY husband is totally disabled from a stroke and heart attack.I was injured on my job but unfortunately the company had a better lawyer than I did. I no longer have a job. We have no medical insurance, and are going to lose our home. I am desperate. Our only income is my husbands social security, which does'nt supply enough money to pay our bills. We have borrowed from friends, family, and sold everything we had of value just to survive this long. We will be out on the street soon. No home-No medical insurance and NO HOPE!
Answer:
Your only relief is Chapter 13 Bankruptcy. Ch13 is reorganization. It is effective the day you file it. That stops all foreclosures instantly. You still have to pay the mortgage. Nobody gets burned. But the court will allow you to keep your things and make the payments.
Don't confuse this with a Chapter 7 bankruptcy. CH7, is a complete insolvency, It's done and over, all bills are wiped out.
CH13, no bills are wiped out, you still have to pay them, but the court will not let anyone foreclose or repossess.
Good Luck.
Check with social services is my only guess. If that is your only income, you should be eligible for some benefits.
