Yesterday, Bush said that the feds should not bail out people facing foreclosure, do you agree?
Question:
Answer:
Absolutely! If you make dumb choices, you pay the price. Why should I pay the price for your mistakes? Learn to read contracts, have an attorney look over it (it's worth the cost), and use wisdom.
Before purchasing my home, I had my accountant review everything.
Yes. It is not the government's job to bailout people when they make mistakes----such as over extending theselves financially.
When I bought my first home in 1976, I was making $15,000 a year. I paid $14,000 for the house. I know people now buying $250,000 homes and making $60,000 a year. Can't do it.
Agreed! "People don't plan to fail, they merely fail to plan"
Yes, they can take their irresponsible butt to the homeless shelter.
Yes, but the stock market is going to continue to slide unless someone intervenes...that being said, people took out bad loans and the govt. shouldn't bail them out
I liked how he called them all stupid, so they shouldn't expect any help from bush, but you can bet he'll bail out the loan companies, because it's causing a Stock Market sell off.
Agree 100%. The government (you and I ) should not have to bail out people that don't take personal responsibilty and made bad choices. We are not a nanny state. Let's just have the whole country claim hardship, we can get the government to pay everyones mortgage off and we can live as one big happy family under the governments thumb.
Hi.I bet you, that Bush wouldn't say that, if his own family was facing a foreclosure, now would he? I can't stand this man...I mean really! Let me get out of here..lol..Bye
YES, with all the interest only plans out there, people jump onboard and over extend themselves buying something they know they can't afford. So, when the balloon payment is due, they still can't afford that. Why should the gov't or anyone else bail them out for not planning ahead of time.
Gee, that's bound to cause some "family" problems, since his dad "bailed out" the failing Texas Savings and Loan to the tune of over $650 million taxpayers' dollars...I mean, that policy would be in DIRECT CONFLICT with his father's actions.
Oh, wait.there was another bush involved in that scandal. Was it Neil? Never mind.
The government policy, as per their action yesterday, is to bail out banks who are under the gun because they made bad loans. Yesterday the government propped up banks with $19 billion.
With respect to individuals who can no longer make their mortgage payments, they are on their own.
Yes, the government should not bail anyone out for their own financial failings. If that were the case, would anyone really care about planning for their future?
We also should stop bailing out corporations. Our pockets should not be open just to them. Why didn't our government do their job of over site why did they let the mortgage companies loan all those bad loans. That's why we have a consumer agency. Republicans come in and every thing is protected for business and nothing for the people who are the government.
I completely agree.
We have got to stop somewhere. People need to start being responsible for themselves and quit relying on the government for everything.
PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY..It's NOT a dirty word.
Of course I do. Why should I pay someone else's mortgage?
Yes. It is unfortunate that they are in this situation but you have a long way to go to convince me that they did not make their own decision to take a loan or that they did not have the opportunity to research and make sure that they planned for what could happen in the future.
I agree completely they knew what they were doing and th fed is not in business of bailing out people and should not bail out corps, other governments etc.
It just makes me more sure that Bush is the wrong man for the job as President because he has no feelings at all for the people he leads. He sure didn't show compassion to the folks of New Orleans when Katrina hit. And no I don't agree, I feel we have an obligation to try to help everyone keep their homes.
EDIT: It's time that we start bailing out the individual first, not the corporation.
Uhm, yeah. If they do that then they should pay my 1250 dollar mortgage just because I want them to.
Agree. My brother has filed for bankruptcy 3 times in the last 20 years. We work hard to pay our mortgage,my brother is just a slacker.
It's a shame that people have made investments that their income can not support. But that's not my fault, that was a bad decision on their part. I think it's better to be rich and look poor than to be poor and look rich.but that's my opinion.
YES- I agree
No one has ever paid my bills for me-
I of course never expected anyone too either- maybe my Mother just weaned me too early or something.
It appears some people believe that somebodys teet is supposed to be in their mouth their whole life.
Well- it ain't gonna be mine
Bush also said Scooter Libby was being punished too harshly for committing four Federal felony's. Anything George Bush says as a lame duck doesn't carry very much weight at this time. The American foreclosure rate is being reflected in the Stock Market and the Dow dropped 500, and then 380 points again within a month over the issue. Bush just had the Federal Reserve print up 25 billion to cover the loss. More credit that doesn't exist. I have a source for you to review: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story...
Why punish me for someone that can't read a contract? Am I supposed to pay for every body's stupid mistakes? The Federal Government has no business getting involved in this mess. It was the companies fault for offering these loans knowing if the housing market dried up and interest rates went up, people would be getting nailed on their house payments. If ANYONE is responsible, its the lending companies. Let those people pay, not the taxpayer.
A prime example of George Bush's "ownership society"...Your on your own. Unregulated banking practices led to it. Keep government off your backs like Ronald Reagan once said.
This is the S&L scandal all over again! Unscrupulous loan writers lose nothing, while their victims lose the farm, and the taxpayers prop up the crooks when the scandal breaks. Bailing out the corporations just rewards the predatory actions of the mortgage companies, and signals them to continue their unethical practices. BTW, the Fed just fronted up another $24 billion, bringing the total to $43B, and not a dime for the newly homeless. You're all heart, America!
I’m sure that the people who are losing their homes will be comforted by Bush’s offer of “enormous empathy.” Bush is too busy trying to find a way to enact corporate tax cuts to worry about possible ways to address the problems of some ordinary Americans.
Failing to act may lead to a collapse of the market for sound mortgages, not just the subprime loans.
Rah, rah, rah MR PREZ.These lazy Americans need to "fish or cut Bait" ..if we use hard earned Taxpayer Dollars to BAIL OUT all of those STUPID AMERICANS, then, how in HELL are we suppose to BAIL OUT the assortment of BananaRepublics around the GLOBE...who call us their FRIEND.(this week)...? SEE, you danged LIBRULS hadn't thought of THAT ONE, had you?
How are we supposed to "SELL" .(snicker) .200 Million (estimated real worth is @1 billion) Dollars worth of high and low tech Weaponry to our decent and honest FRIENDS AND, errrr... ALLIES...IN ...THE...MIDDLE...EAST, like the.. uhhh...Saudis AND THEN just turn around and "GIVE"... our hard earned, TAXPAYER generated, funds and Credits to...a bunch of lower and middle income, non-Republican voting, ...American...HOMEOWNERS? I think...NOT! This entire idea is ludicrously and very...UN-American.
One of our GREATEST "points of pride" is that we "allow" American CITIZENS the "privilege of poor planning, poor savings, and poor choices". These p-p-poor people will in turn LEARN from their mistakes, even if it means becoming homeless. They will learn of the detrimental effects of NANNY-STATE Liberalism. They will learn that FISCAL RESPONSIBOLOGNA, no, errr "responscli...", naw...uh-uh, errr "Respyrtuni..."...WHATEVER it's called...is the core of sound REPUBLICAN VALUES. They will learn that Republicans are CAREFUL PROTECTORS...of the PEOPLES monies. They will learn that REPUBLICANS DON'T DEPEND ON US Government Handouts in order to BAIL THEMSELVES out of tough situations. That's what TRUST FUNDS and GOOD BANKING INDUSTRY "connections" are for! They will learn that Republicans are more HONEST AND TRUST-WORTHY because they are NOT ADDICTED to US Government monetary DEPENDENCY (.that's what Saudi and Chinese monetary DEPENDENCY.is for!...)
The BUSH FAMILY has basically...and historically, told THESE lower tier AMERICAN individuals and families...that Governmental Bailouts will fosters NOTHING POSITIVE to a CITIZEN'S place and status within the Greater Society ..These programs would only rob the SUCCESSFUL high income earner in order TO bribe and placate the CARELESS and the UNWORTHY.... UNLESS OF COURSE, you are a careless and unworthy MAJOR CORPORATION...OR even a corrupt "fair-weather" ALLY, in need of some SERIOUS U.S. GOVERNMENT AID and/or CASH. Then , my pcket is YOUR pocket..!
