Does anyone know how long you have to vacate a home after foreclosure in Tn?
Question:
Answer:
Technically you hold title to the house until the day of the auction. Once the auction is complete either someone bought it, or it goes back to the bank. You'll probably have about 2 weeks give or take before someone comes over to secure the property. By that I mean they will change the locks, disconnect all utilities, put stickers on the house advising that trespassing is illegal, etc.
You won't know until you call the mortgage company directly.
I would suspect forever unless you can make the money to buy it back out of foreclosure. I mean I don't think they want you to return to the house after they forclose on it.
After the house is sold at auction, the new owner will obviously want you to vacate the premesis. If you chose not to I asssume he would have to evict you which could take a few weeks.
You can file Bankruptcy right up to the minute before the foreclosure auction and it will delay the entire process months as long as you show up before the auctions starts with your BK papers
