Go to any bank...they have lists there
I would start by buying a couple of books on the subject. I just finished reading The Pre-Foreclosure Property Investor's Kit : How to Make Money Buying Distressed Real Estate -- Before the Public Auction by Thomas Lucier. It was a really good book. It was one of the few books I have read on real estate investing that didn't have a lot of hype. I hope that helps!
