Where does one go to find a foreclosure list?
Question:
Answer:
a bank can give you a list of foreclosed homes.
some newspapers have them
Hud has some listing. Your local police department gives auction on car and homes. Some agency has private listings, but they are not free.
There is no free foreclosure list per se. The government agencies that offer foreclosures like HUD, FHA and VA list the properties up for auction on there sites. These are going to be the problem properties. The better properties are farmed out to real estate brokers for disposable long before any auctions. Not that you can't make money on these but expect to have extensive remediation to bring them up to code.
You can go to the county courthouse in the area that you are interested in working and research the data that way. Much more reliable and you can sometimes beat the investors to the punch.
There are quite a few paid sites that scan the government databases and compile the list. The problem with those lists is that they are sold to 1000s and you are competing with all of them. They also tend to be out dated.
