What rights do tenants have if the owners house goes into foreclosure? How much time does the tenant have 2 go

Question:
does the tenant have the right to ask for time to move?

Answer:
Usually all items involving the property will be handled by the trustee. This is the person you most likely need to speak to. You may need to go to the court house to find out who this is but at this point in time you may want to start looking for a new place to live since whom ever ends up buying this property will most likely not want to be landlords.

Also, you may need to seek the advise of an attorney if you have deposits with the landlord. It may be hard to get those funds back if he is going into BK.

Good luck

First of all you are protected by the landlord tenant act of your state and the lease contract that the lender will acquire and must honor unless you are mentioned in the foreclosure suit as an attempt to extinguish your rights under that contract. However you need to contact an attorney if moving will be a burden.
