Best books to learn about buying pre-foreclosures?

Question:
I'm interested in learning about buying pre-foreclosed homes (not for profit, but as an alternative to buying a new home) and was wondering if anyone can recommend a book that is easy to understand, has accurate information, and isn't some kind of get-rich-quick scheme. I've found quite a few on amazon.com but don't want to buy something unless it's actually going to help me. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Also: has anyone else had any luck with pre-forclosures?

Answer:
You sound skeptical so maybe buying a book is not going to be a good idea.

1. Go to the library and see what is on offer.

2. Go to a large bookstore and browse the RE section. Pick the ones on foreclosure and find a table. Read what you can and decide if any are useful in your mind.

3. Check out information that is on the web. There is a lot out there which can be read for free. I have listed a great RE website. Once on the site do a search for foreclosure and you will get a lot of hits from that one site. Note many will be part of forum discussions by real investors. Focus first on the how to articles and the success notes as those will be written as self contained articles.
