Has anyone ever heard of "Freedom Debt Relief Program"?
Question:
Answer:
Stay away from all of those debt relief programs. What they do is have you pay them a certain amount that they hold in a 'special' account for you. Then they claim they will pay a reduced amount later. I tried it and ended up having to file bankruptcy after paying them over $2000. My credit card was taking me to court (since I was told not to pay them) and the debt relief company told me I might want to pay them now because they can't do anything for me at this point. Well, with paying the debt relief I no longer had money for my credit card and with all the penalty's I owed tons.
Try dealing directly with your credit card company. Usually they will reduce the dept if you will pay it off in one big chunk. I would honestly stay away from all of these types of programs.

I would recommend you try a debt consolidation loan through Prosper. They offer a free service that matches you with lenders willing to loan up to $25,000. It's better than relying on a fly-by-night debt relief company that could take your money and run. Prosper is licensed in all 50 states. If you choose Prosper then make sure you join a group. Members of groups get better interest rates. The best one I have seen so far is the Sturzstrom Funding Group. You can find them by searching their name under teh Groups tab. Good luck.
Never use debt consolidation programs. They do not work. Instead check out the book The Total Money Makeover. He has an excellent plan for getting out of debt that is working wonders for my finances.
Good luck!
Yes - I am in the program right now, and it seems legit, no problems so far. Watch this video:
