Anyone ever use a debt consolidation company, like Curadebt?
Question:
Thanks all!
Don't do that. Get a financial attorney and explore all your options.
I think it's a good way to get rid of debt faster, but just realize that when you go to buy a house or a car, a debt consolidation shows up on your credit as kinda the same rating as a bankruptcy (the look at it the same. Equally as bad)....so just beware of that...
Use one that is affiliated with Consumer Credit Counseling Services. That is a non-profit that is well respected and established. They can refer to a reputable company.
The problem is there are so many companies out there today who will take advantage of you. But there are still good companies who will help you. Ameridebt was a biggie-they are now being sued but unfortunately they've already screwed thousands.
I have never used a credit counseling or debt consolidation company. I have been on hard times more than once and I feel your pain. I too have used borrowed time and money to simply get by. I would try to negotiate directly with all your creditors to settle for less of defur payments. The damage is done, I would deal directly with the creditors and be firm you still have rights and they still have guidelines they have to follow. Do not be bullied around. Good luck.
other than on the commercials ive never heard anyone say anything good about them at all most ppl feel scammed and say they couldve paid it off faster themselves what my husband and i are doing is working great for us we just pulled both our credit reports and are paying off the debts as we can, pay off the small ones first (smaller anyways) and work your way up i know this may sound kinda dumb but you have to climb a mountain one step at a time...
I am currently enrolled in a debt consolidation and it works for ME. Alot of people believe it's a scam, you can do it yourself, talk to the creditors first, Blah blah blah. Everyone's financial situation I guarantee is different, and some can't also keep up with what you charged up, or afford to talk to a financial counselor. I like you didn't spend on no nonsense thrills. YOU decide if it's right for you. Do some research of the pros and cons and then make your decision. People say it shows up on your credit report like bankruptcy (I am not sure how true this is), but in my opinion I'd rather it show up that I'm trying to pay back my debt than "ignoring" it and letting it pile up into more debt + with more fees. Many people have gone thru a program and loved it, and wouldn't change it
FYI Don't go with the first one you see. Some charge fees up the __ others do not so really look. I have CareOneCredit Solutions an affiliate of American Finanacial Solutions
I have been on a debt consolidation program for 3 1/2 years. I love it. I started out with over $11,000 in debt and was a single mother of 4. I not only lowered my monthly payments by over $300, I am now down to $1600 owing. Try Alliance Credit Counseling. I hope things work out for you.
